    We wanted our last post of the year to be an acknowledgment and a thank you to the hard-working team here at Influence. Our team has grown considerably over the last 12 months, which has enabled us to expand our services, work with more incredible clients, and support more young people in finding and experiencing the career of landscape architecture. It is a pleasure to have a diverse team of all ages, experiences and passions, who work collaboratively to deliver brilliant landscape and urban design, environmental planning and arboriculture.     We have worked on truly incredible projects in 2023, some now complete, some still active as we move into 2024. A quick run through of some of the highlights to round off the year. ⛲️ Two exciting projects on the east coast of Lincolnshire, including Tower Gardens - the regeneration of the Victorian pleasure gardens 🦆 The inaugural nature reserve, Sandilands, for The National Trust 📚 Continuing our work on SEND schools in Warwickshire and Lincolnshire 🚤 The ongoing progress of Chesterfield Canal - which will result in the reinstatement of a large section of the water. We have completed detail hard and soft landscape plans as well as a comprehensive Landscape and Ecological Management Plan, alongside our consultant ecologist 🏊 Moving forward with Kingsmill Reservoir - a new watersports facility in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Enabling works are complete and further landscape areas will be delivered following completion of the new Sailing Club building. ⛰ Further afield, we have done our first project in the Lake District - where assessments of a new development in a sensitive landscape have become a key part of the planning process. 📑 Working with Frameworks and Local Authorities - supporting them on the review of planning applications 🏡 The completion of an exceptional house in the countryside in Oakham - which delivered stunning architecture and landscaped grounds all in the historic and farming context of Rutland We are incredibly lucky to work on these projects and it is a pleasure to see the real impact that is made. #2023roundup #2024planning #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesign

  8. This year, when it came to putting up our office decorations, we decided to have a bit of friendly festive competition, all in the name of sustainability. Over Carousel

    This year, when it came to putting up our office decorations, we decided to have a bit of friendly festive competition, all in the name of sustainability. Over the last few days, we have been busy at Influence HQ creating a winter wonderland using homemade, crafted or pre-used Christmas decorations to see which office could create the most festive, sustainably decorated space. We created the fun challenge so we could be as sustainable – and creative - as possible, and as we have two rooms in our river-side office in Newark, it was the front office team V the back office team and wow did everyone get in the spirit! From natural materials like twigs, Ivy and pinecones to hundreds of handmade decorations and creative installations, both teams did incredibly well! Once complete, we asked an impartial friend of the business to come along and judge, and after much deliberation, the front office was crowned the winner! Well done to the whole team for such great creativity and teamwork. The bar is certainly high for next year! #christmas2023 #sustainablechristmas #teamwork

    As we move into our final days in the office in 2023, we have been busy completing projects, starting new ones ready for January, and planning our Q1 calendar. We place great value as a team in getting out and seeing and feeling spaces and places and meeting people. Over the last couple of weeks, members of the team have joined events that help us forge and strengthen industry relationships and support environmental issues. Design assistant Sorcha attended a People, Planet and Pint evening. A group that meets regularly to discuss what’s new in sustainability and how to get involved. This is a continued learning environment. Landscape Manager Isabel joined a festive property & construction afternoon tea in Lichfield. Meeting new professionals in the industry and potential new clients. Thanks to all the organisers and see you in 2024! #landscapearchitect #people #planet #networking #newbusiness

    Since October, we have had the pleasure of working with Tierney Wait, who has been in the Influence office on a three-month placement from university. Studying Geography at the University of Cambridge, Tierney is with us as a design assistant, gaining experience in landscape planning and design whilst working alongside and supporting our team. Sadly, we say goodbye to Tierney at the end of the month but wanted to recognise her brilliant contribution to our practice over the last few months.     Yesterday Sara attended the Hewitt Associates Annual Festive Breakfast. It's always a relaxed and enjoyable get-together to reflect on the end of another year and catch up with contacts before the Christmas break. This year the event is supported Age UK and Friendship at Home charities, and we were asked to take gifts with us, including hot water bottles, blankets, and mince pies.
