    Fantastic to see such inspiring and thought-provoking work at the Earth Photo 2025 Exhibition at the @nationaltrust’s @angleseyabbeynt this weekend. Developed by @forestryengland, the @rgs_ibg and @parkerharrisco, this powerful exhibition brings together still and moving image makers who explore the most pressing issues facing the planet today. Set within the beautiful Heritage Orchard at Anglesey Abbey, the shortlisted images tell stories of our relationship with the environment - from the resilience of nature to the impact of human activity and climate change. In our work, it’s always valuable to engage with creative perspectives that highlight the urgency of protecting and restoring our planet’s landscapes.     | Project throwback | Spelthorne Leisure Centre | A brilliant project to work on alongside @willmottdixon this leisure centre in Staines-upon-Thames provided the community with an eight-lane swimming pool, gym, sports hall, soft play, clip and climb and a cafe. But the sports facilities are not the full story - landscape played an important role. 🌳🌾🪑 Our landscape design ground the building in its setting, creating an attractive street scene and visually connecting it to the nearby park. We create spaces around the building which are linked and each offer activities within them. Protecting existing trees and adding new ones plus planting added shade, structure and new habitats. 🪲 #projectthrowback #landscapearchitectture #landscapedesign #publicrealm

    Intergenerational Living Workshop 🌿 Shona was delighted to be invited by Kevin Kendall, Head of Property at @lincscoop, to an inspiring event focused on intergenerational living held at @lincolncity_fc. Organised by the fantastic team at Intergenerational Pollinators: Cat Hall, Dawn Barron, John Latham, Sharon Heaton, Charlotte Horner, and Emma Tatlow, we were treated to a powerful line-up of speakers who each brought unique perspectives on how we can better design places to support connection across generations: → Sue Egersdorff – Co-founder, Ready Generations → Emily Abbott – Co-founder, Intergenerational England → Jeremy Porteus – Founder & CEO, Housing LIN → Ben Williamson – Director, PRP → Jenny Buterchi – Partner, PRP → Gia Sijpkes – CEO, Humanitas Deventer The event concluded with a co-creational session focused on the future of City Square, a Lincolnshire Co-op site in the heart of the city. As landscape architects we are passionate about the positive impact of green space on wellbeing and ensuring it sits at the centre of the communities we live, work and grow in, and there’s no better place to start than in beautiful Lincoln. A key speaker from Make Space for Women and a wider panel focused on inclusive design and how we can design sensitively to young women and girls. They spoke about how young women and girls are often left out of designs, such as parks being designed primarily with a male lens, and that we need to consider broader social groups when we are designing these spaces so they feel more welcoming and safe. Steve Fernandez, Director, Global building Retrofit Leader at @arupgroup gave a really insightful presentation about retrofitting the existing buildings, the importance of sustainability and impact of carbon onto the building industry – and how those aspects shape the design process. He explained it on several examples where he was part of the design team, including @coaldropsyard in London. We heard about the fantastic work that the Lincolnshire and Notts Air Ambulance do, with ‘the day in the life of a HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Servies) Paramedic’. This was followed by the Newark and Sherwood District Council Economic Growth Team. Supporting strategy and masterplan development, business engagement, support and development, they brought us up to speed on their current and future programmes and how funding is supporting growth in both Newark and the surrounding area. #newarkbusinessclub #newarkbusiness #landscapearchitect

This achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication to their careers and to the industry. It is a significant milestone for landscape architects and professionals and the credential signifies that they met the highest standards in both education and practice, underscoring their commitment to professional integrity and continuous development. Lots of very interesting and relevant topics discussed. Highlights below. ➡️ Policy, Planning and the £39 Billion Question In relation to the Government’s investment in Social and Affordable Homes Programme for registered providers, the first talk, hosted by architect and TV presenter George Clarke, with Mike Woolliscroft @VistryGroup, Richard Cook @clarion.housing and Rob Lamond West Midlands Combined Authority reinstated the importance of collaboration and issues relating to the planning process, targets, policy and timescales. ➡️ From Roadmap to Reality: Turning Climate Resilience Plans into On-Site Action Yetunde Abdul, of the @ukgreenbuildingcouncil presented an overview of the UK Climate Resilience Roadmap, including guidance on how the built environment can increase its resilience to climate hazards and the policies required alongside. Whilst buildings are the frontline defence, Eco-systems and Society also play fundamental, inter-connecting rolls. ➡️ Beyond Carbon: Measuring and Managing Embodied Bio-diversity Impacts in Construction Greengage’s Chris Moss offered an overview on how bio-diversity impacts should be considered beyond the red line. As well as considerations relating to the operations phase of development. ➡️ Nature Positive: Embedding Bio-diversity into the Built Environment Chris was joined by Claire Wansbury @inside_atkinsrealis , Tom Butterworth @arupuk and Steve Smith @tetratecheurope Tech Europe to discuss how nature restoration is now critical to climate resilience, how nature can add value to development and how it should be understood as critical infrastructure, especially considering catchment areas to roadways and other transport routes. #ukconstructionweek2025 #ukcw25 #landscapearchitects #landscapedesign #BNG #naturepositive #beyondcarbon #policy&planning
