The project
Turning Lincolnshire Coastal Vision into Reality: Delivering Sandilands, a Landmark Nature Reserve for Wildlife, Communities and Climate Resilience
Influence was appointed by the National Trust in 2023 to deliver the technical design and construction stages for Sandilands, the Trust’s first new nature reserve on the East Lincolnshire coast. Acting as lead designer from RIBA Stage 4 through to completion, the project transforms a former golf course into a high-quality, accessible landscape that connects people with nature.
Located along a key east coast bird migration flyway, the scheme plays a vital role within the wider Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park partnership. The design creates over 30 hectares of new priority habitat, helping to link fragmented coastal environments and support biodiversity recovery.
The project establishes a year-round visitor destination, providing inclusive access to nature while strengthening the local tourism offer and supporting the regional economy.
Delivered as part of the National Trust’s long-term coastal strategy, Sandilands demonstrates expertise in sustainable, landscape-led design that balances ecological enhancement with visitor experience.
