Redmile Paragraph 84 House: Blurring the Boundary Between Home and Landscape
Influence was appointed to provide landscape planning and design services for a Paragraph 84 house set within the Leicestershire countryside, developing a carefully considered landscape strategy alongside the architecture. The design responds to the historic grid of former Nissan huts, reinterpreting this structure into a more flexible framework that evolves across the site.
The scheme establishes three distinct but interconnected zones: an intimate private garden, a contemporary entrance courtyard, and a wider nature reserve landscape. Close to the dwelling, structured planting and a refined grid create ordered, visually rich spaces, while towards the site perimeter the landscape becomes progressively looser and more naturalistic.
A mosaic of wildflower habitats, native planting, wetland features and orchard groupings enhances biodiversity and seasonal interest, supported by earth modelling and water features that reflect the local landscape character.
Overall, the project delivers a sensitive transition from cultivated garden to natural habitat, embedding the dwelling within a distinctive and evolving rural setting. The scheme successfully achieved planning approval in 2026.
