Let's hear from our apprentice and Design Assistant Jake, who is studying to become a Chartered Town Planner at @sheffhallamuni “My studies at Sheffield are going great and I’m finding that my experiences gained at Influence are really helping to aid my knowledge at university. Really pleased to have received good feedback on my assignments so far, and thanks to the support I’m getting at uni and from the team at Influence, I can find the balance between studying and working. I’m looking forward to putting further knowledge I learn into practice.” We love having Jake in our team and we really advocate the opportunities having an apprentice brings to the culture and commerciality of a business.     Alongside partners @bsp.consulting and @athenecomms we delivered a fantastic workshop at Batley Girls' High School with students from three secondary schools, collaborating and discussing placemaking in Batley, West Yorkshire. They discussed what they like and what they'd like to see change. The session saw them bring their ideas to life in a mood board which they presented. You can see examples of the mood boards in the images with this post. This workshop is part of our public engagement activity for the regeneration of Batley town centre. Led by our client @kirklees.council as part of Batley Blueprint – a long term vision and framework to guide development in the town. New regeneration designs for Batley town centre have been created following a three-year public consultation, and those designs are now available to view online by the public to enable people of all ages to have their say and help to shape the design details. The designs aim to bring new life, connectivity, and investment to Batley town centre. During the session Influence and our partners discussed our roles and career pathways so the students understood the different professionals involved in a regeneration project such as this.     Fantastic, uplifting evening last night at the Lincoln City Foundation Gala Dinner. ✨ Part of Lincoln City Football Club, the Foundation works with partners to inspire, empower, and help individuals and communities improve their physical, social, and mental wellbeing. A lively game of Heads & Tails followed by speakers Parkrun's Tom Williams and Jasper Caudwell from Pygott & Crone who is taking on the London Marathon on behalf of the Foundation, which Influence is a proud sponsor of. 🏃🏻‍♂️ A great evening had by all and funds rasied for such a good cause.     A week to go! 🏆 As a proud finalist in the Development Project of the Year (Under £5m) category, we can't wait until the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Greater Lincolnshire Construction & Property Awards next week. Tower Gardens in Skegness is a worthy finalist of this award and hopefully a winner too! The Grade II listed Registered Park and Garden and the town's primary green space, has undergone important landscape regeneration works to make it more accessible, engaging and attractive for local residents and the many visitors to Skegness each year. Working with contractor G F Tomlinson and on behalf of Skegness Town Council, our designs for the gardens included new sensory features and areas for poeple to enjoy, we also brought back to life beautiful historic features such as the pond and cascades. Tower Gardens is a unique project that has brought so much to the people and wildlife in Skegness. #lcpa #skegness #lincolnshirecoast #greaterlincolnshire #landscapedesign #landscapepractice #landscapearchitecture #publicrealm #wellbeing

    Sandilands, Lincolnshire Coast 🌾🌊 You can really see the wetlands taking shape in these new ariel shots at our project Sandilands. The photos show the before and now, showing what work has done so far to turn the former golf course into a wildlife haven. Owned by @nationaltrust @ntsandilands will feature open water and islands, reedbeds and ponds. There will be areas of native scrub planting, wildflower and species rich grassland, and sand dunes to encourage wildlife and migratory birds to settle, and a visitor hub. We’re proud to be the landscape partner on this important project and it’s wonderful that our section 1 works are underway - with the first native scrub planting and the majority of the structures for the boardwalks and bridges are now in place. The first bird hide frame is about to be installed, so our designs are really starting to come to life.     Big thank you to Marrons for the 'Unlocking Nottingham: From Potential to Persimmon' event yesterday. In a city with two world-class universities, leaders in enterprise, creativity and entertainment, development potential is around every corner in Nottingham. With its new 'Green Heart' recently unveiled and the Island Quarter, Nottingham is full of opportunity. Sites across the city are ready to fulfil their potential, but the path to getting a development across the line can be challenging. High design expectations, a rich heritage landscape and tough market conditions can be seen as a barrier to making the most of development opportunities in the City. The event had a great panel who explored how to unlock the potential of the buildings and sites that are ripe for regeneration.Head of Development and Planning at Nottingham City Council, Paul Seddon said that they may be releasing more assets soon and there are opportunities there for developers who have a good multidisciplinary team behind them.     Did you know that one of our projects is a finalist at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards? 🏆 Tower Gardens in Skegness, Lincolnshire, is a Grade II Registered Park and Garden and forms part of the original plan for the development of the town, drawn up in 1868! On behalf of Skegness Town Council, we produced innovative designs to make this important green space more accessible, engaging and attractive for the local residents and the many visitors the coastal town has each year. As well as bringing in new sensory features and areas for people to enjoy, alongside G F Tomlinson we also brought back to life beautiful historic features of the park, such as the pond and cascades. ⛲️🌳🌷 We are excited for the awards evening early next month and are keeping everything crossed that this unique landscape project is a winner on the night.     We are super proud to have been selected as the landscape architect on this important project in Batley, West Yorkshire. It certainly will be a new positive era for the town, as we work with @kirklees.council and construction partners to create a welcoming town centre, with the key themes of creating great public spaces, a vibrant marketplace, better accessibility and sustainable travel. Following three years of pubic consultation with the local residents and business communities, the new designs for Batley town centre are available to view - giving the community an opportunity to help shape key design details.
