Inspiring a sense of wellbeing in care home residents
Influence were selected by Highwood Group to carry out Detail Landscape Design and a Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment (TVIA) for a mixed-use development on the former site of Netley Court School, Hampshire. Encompassing renovation, conversion and extensions, the scheme created 48 prestige assisted living apartments with communal facilities, re-sited access for vehicles, new pedestrian access, parking, and landscaping. Visually and ecologically sensitive, the site’s coastal location on the northern bank of River Test required in-depth assessment and landscape mitigation measures.
Our landscape concept achieves a blend of traditional and contemporary spaces, blurring the transition between formal Victorian architecture and the coastal landscape. Carefully considered, our proposals created: a comfortable and welcoming space that inspires a sense of wellbeing in future residents; a consistent landscape treatment to the site frontage; and a variety of accessible spaces with key views of the adjacent coastline. We also retained and protected mature TPO (Tree Preservation Order) trees and boundary vegetation with ecological value.
