Brackenborough Lawns Landscape Masterplan

A landscape masterplan that respects the diversity of its landscape character

Appointed by Tanglewood Leisure Ltd in conjunction with Place Architects, Influence were asked to produce a landscape masterplan for a resort near Louth on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The proposals included conversions and extensions to an existing house, and 120 log cabins in different landscape settings. Our strategy created an appropriate landscape context responding to the site’s arboricultural, visual and built constraints.

The scheme evolved into four distinct areas: 1) the formal landscape of the house and spa; log cabins set in 2) meadowland, 3) parkland, and 4) woodland. These areas provide a comprehensive landscape masterplan that respects the context of the house, the surrounding field network and existing woodland within the site. The design combines the need for secluded areas, breakout spaces and communal zones, improvements to the existing landscape resource, and the containment of the designed landscape in relation to the surrounding field network. We were also commissioned to produce a management plan to supplement mature planting and bring the existing tree and woodland stock into active management.
