Bexhill Gateway Road

Alleviating the impact of a new road on arable land

The North East Bexhill Gateway Road (NEBGR) is an 850m single carriageway road connecting Wrestwood Road, Bexhill with the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road (BHLR). The new road will create a footpath and important junctions for future commercial and residential developments. The NEBGR route is comprised mostly of arable land broken by occasional hedgerows and farm tracks; its junction with the BHLR is on the disused Bexhill to Crowhurst railway line.

Acting on the behalf of NEBGR (a not-for-profit economic development company), SeaChange Sussex appointed Influence to provide a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA), concept development and Landscape Design to support the planning application. The key priorities of our scheme were designed to mitigate the impact of the expansion on landscape character. When planning consent was awarded in September 2012, Influence were selected to produce a Detail Design scheme and the materials required to satisfy planning conditions. These included drawings and documentation, and a comprehensive Landscape and Ecological Management Plan.
