Our newest team members
We’ve recently welcomed two new members to our Influence team.
Below they tell us a little about themselves…
Claire Thomson Graphic and Design Technician
I joined Influence at the beginning of June 2014 after deciding to take a change of direction from civil engineering. I have firmly established my role as Graphic and Design Technician over the last eight months, and feel that I am now an integral part of the team. Being in a supporting role, means that I have the pleasure of working with all the members of the Influence team across all three offices. This keeps me busy and gives me the opportunity to work on a really diverse range of projects, whilst constantly adding to my skill set.
Since I have been with Influence, I have had the opportunity to learn and use new software such as GIS, Windfarm and Sketchup which has built tremendously on my previous experience as a CAD and Graphics Technician. On top of all this, I go on site visits every once in a while, which allows me to practise my photography – something I would like to do in my spare time – if I had any!
As well as project based work, I also helped to introduce the new Influence brand in September/October last year. This involved redesigning and updating everything from document templates and marketing material to the Influence Christmas card (my favourite piece of work so far…).
I’ve been a Landscape Architect for over 12 years now, and joined Influence in August 2014 after almost a decade with LUC. I am now firmly established leading our new London office and I work closely with Newark and Fareham on a wide variety of landscape projects and business development activities.
I get to work on a really diverse and interesting range of projects, including a masterplan for a forgotten Brownian landscape and site specific delivery of strategic green infrastructure. I also get to use my landscape planning skills to guide the location of developments on sensitive sites.
Away from the office, I enjoy travel, practising my landscape photography and driving my vintage Alfa – a time consuming and expensive hobby!
