Influence Team Members Visit Landscape Show
The Influence team picked a beautiful sunny day to travel to the Landscape Show. The show in Battersea Park, Central London on Tuesday 13th September is for landscape architects, garden designers, landscapers and contractors. Ian, Kathryn and Lindsey attended six of the set CPD accredited seminars throughout the day including;
- Harriet Wennberg – INTBAU Landscape and the Vernacular in Architecture.
- Ceryl Evans – Capability Brown Festival, Increasing Public Understanding of Manmade Historic Landscapes and what we are doing to encourage exploration and understanding of this.
- Gill Chamberlain – Garden Rescue, Aftercare and maintenance, a necessary evil or a challenging business opportunity?
- Nicola Gammon – Shoot, How to develop and grow client relationships.
- John Wyer – Underground, overground, how to build with basements and create beautiful gardens.
- Supurbia – Transforming Suburbia Supurbia
Particularly interesting seminars attended were John Wyer’s talk based on designing gardens around basement developments, incorporating and working with necessary light shafts, air vents and escape stairs and how they work within the overall garden design and planting plan. He also covered overcoming weight limits and depths for growing mediums and hard landscaping around structural upstand beams, drainage channels and ducting runs. Another talk, given by Gill Chamberlain, was based on garden maintenance and how to design to minimise maintenance, garden development and how the garden evolves over two, three and five years onwards.
In between the seminars the team visited and chatted to exhibitors displaying everything from lighting to furniture, stone to water features and green walls to bamboo decking, the team gathered inspiration and information on new products available within the industry to share with the rest of the Influence team back in the office, whilst making some new contacts and catching up with old acquaintances.
