A sensitive design in Ampfield

Influence were appointed to coordinate the design of the external environment for four detached units in the Hampshire village of Ampfield.

A sensitive Arboricultural and Landscape Design approach helped secure residential approval to Hampshire village development.

The local plants-men have gathered a collection of ornamental trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials from around the world, which together have created a unique character to the site with its varying forms, colour and seasonal interest.

A key facet to the success of the site has been its ability to protect this.

Using our joint capabilities in arboriculture, horticulture , landscape design, as well as landscape and visual appraisal, the development proposals had evolved to minimise the loss of this interesting botanical collection. This created a landscape driven design that provides a fluid layout with each plot having its own private frontage and aspect which adds value to the design.

The small amount of tree cover lost during operations will be mitigated through new planting, providing a nett gain in tree species across the site and a greater number of native species. All in keeping with the Ampfield Village landscape.

Detailed planning permission was granted by Test Valley in December 2014.
