Restoring a forgotten landscape

Influences proposal for conservation of a forgotten Capability Brown landscape and new development has been granted planning approval.

Working for Highwood Land LLP in partnership with a large multi-disciplinary design team, along with key stakeholders Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council, we have developed proposals to secure the future of the remnant-designed landscape at North Stoneham Park, near Eastleigh.

By using the restored historic landscape framework as mitigation, the landscape design for new mixed use development incorporating a residential community of 1100 houses, elderly care provision, local centre, offices and a new primary school is an interesting example of sensitive and creative conservation. The realisation of the masterplan will deliver significant long term contributions to the strategic green infrastructure network in the county.North Stoneham 1135-03A-Detailed masterplan (1) cropped

We demonstrated how integration of strategic green infrastructure planning, EIA and design has helped gu ide the best outcomes for the site, and the importance of collaboration to deliver multifunctional landscapes that can provide longterm benefits to communities at a number of levels.Landscape Strategy
